I meant to do one of these posts closer to the middle of the month, but whoops, that didn’t happen! I’ve been participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this month so my reading and blogging have been taking a little bit of a hit, but I’m loving that I’ve gotten back into writing (it was pretty spotty in May and June). If ya wanna read a post I wrote on Camp NaNo, you can check it out here. 🙂
Though the amount of reading that I’ve been doing has decreased lately, I’ve managed to do some rereading that I’m super pleased about, which I’ll talk more about below!
For those of you who don’t know: WWW Wednesday is a book meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words where you answer 3 ‘what’ questions about your reading.
What are you currently reading?
- Dance of Thieves- I have mixed feelings on this so far. I love the world and the characters (its a companion book to The Remnant Chronicles), but the insta-attraction between the 2 protagonists is killing me.
- Siege and Storm- I’ve put this on the back burner for now, but I’m hoping to finish my reread of this book before I return to college at the end of August!
- Celtic Tales- Slowly making my way through this one!
What did you recently finish reading?
I FINALLY read this book and finished The Remnant Chronicles! Rereading the first two books and reading this book made me realize how much I love this world and its characters! I thought for sure that this book would be a 5 stars for me and that I would be able to call The Remnant Chronicles one of my favorite series, but alas, I was really disappointed by the ending. With such a slow, great build up, the resolution felt too anticlimactic, short, and easy. Did anyone else read this series and feel the same way?
What do you think you’ll read next?
- To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before- I wasn’t planning on reading this book, but one of my best friends, who never reads YA, read & loved this book. Not to mention we already have plans for a movie night when the movie adaptation releases on Netflix… so I guess I’m going to be reading this book soon!
- Emergency Contact- I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy lately, so it’s time for me to cleanse my palette! Not to mention that both these books are due back at the library on July 31st so I really need to get on them…
The three books you’re currently reading all have simply gorgeous covers. I hope the content lives up to them!

I’ve been putting off reading Book 3 as I’m worried it’ll disappoint me! Argh!

For the Remnant Chronicles?
Honestly, I thought it was a pretty great read until the ending. And the ending isn’t horrible, it just had the potential to be so much greater. Idk, I would say pick it up and give it try? Especially if you want to read Dance of Thieves when it releases, because it spoils a lot of what happens in The Beauty of Darkness.

I did have the Celtic Tales on my TBR last year but then got rid of it. I don’t know why but I might put it back on my TBR

The Celtic Tales is ermm, interesting? Idk, I picked it up in an attempt to read more mythology, but the stories that I’ve read so far are kind of bizarre 😅 (but maybe that’s because I haven’t read many Celtic fairytales?).
I’m only half way through the book, so I’m not quite sure if I’d recommend it or not.

Usually I just stick to fantasy, but I enjoy picking up a cute, contemporary romance every once in awhile.

I loved Siege and Storm and the other two on your currently reading shelf look amazing. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I have also heard that Jenny Han’s book is a not-to-be-skipped so its on my TBR as well. Happy writing (and reading!) Yes, the Grisha Verse Trilogy is great! Leigh Bardugo is an amazing author and I really need to read more of her work! I’m also enjoying Dance of Thieves. Celtic Tales is…interesting, lol.
I’ve heard good things about Jenny Han too! I hope To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before lives up to it.
And thanks! ❤

You have two books on your list that I really want to read! Siege and Storm (although, I need to read Shadow and Bone first!) and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I hope you get all the reading in you want before school starts!

I ADORED Siege and Storm (and the other two books in the series), it was such a fun series to get through, but I haven’t been able to make it through Crooked Kingdom, yet. Celtic Tales looks like it would be a fun one to read 🙂 Have a good week!

Yes, the Grisha Verse Trilogy is great! I’m actually trying to reread the series before I pick up the Six of Crows Duology, but my reread has been pretty slow going, whoops. 😛
And Celtic Tales is interesting. Idk, definitely not what I expected when I first picked it up.
Thanks! Happy reading!

I read The Remnant Chronicles last year and really enjoyed the series. But I felt the same as you and was disappointed by the last book, it just seemed to drag on and the ending was just ok. The second book was my favorite though, and I really hope Dance of Thieves is as good as that one was!
I also joined in on the WWW challenge today! https://thebookishunicorn.wordpress.com/2018/07/25/www-wednesday-1/

Oh good, I’m glad I’m not alone in feeling this way! Ahhh, I’m just so upset because the ending had so much potential but it felt like the author ran out of steam when she got to the end so she just wrapped it up real quick instead.
And thanks! I’m liking Dance of Thieves, but the fact that there’s mega insta-love on the way and that Lia is no longer a protagonist is undercutting my enjoyment of the book. I’m only a third of the way through tho, so I’m hoping it will improve!

It really did have so much potential! I think it was extra disappointing since the first 2 books were so well done it was a little unexpected.
I was hoping by now that the insta-love trope would have died, but I am constantly proven wrong! I hope it gets better and I look forward to see what you think!

Yes, the first 2 books were soooo well done! I read them both for the 3rd time this month, and even tho I knew the story line, they were still so enjoyable and I kept discovering things I hadn’t caught before! I have so much love for those two books…
And yess, argh, insta-love needs to die!
And thanks! 🙂
